Bio:
Julia Muenzing (* 1971 Stuttgart, Germany) lives and works in Stuttgart and teaches at the Pforzheim Goldsmith School. She began her artistic work as a jewel goldsmith, later on ceramics and concept jewelery were added. The intensive preoccupation with the worldwide extinction of species based on bee pollen form the starting point of her work for several years.
Artist Statement:
PARADOXON - about bee pollen. Increasing species extinction and decreasing biodiversity. Paradox, that humans are responsible and at the same time become victims of allergies and diseases. Made of cable insulation, my work adheres by itself to make this global reach visible and painful tangible. More communication tool than jewelry. Mixed media, enlargement and exaggeration as well as the choice of materials become language, my work indicates the fragility of our ecosystem.
