Our online exhibition is open to artists worldwide.

The in-person exhibition is open to:

-all artists residing in the US

-or artists who will be coming to NYCJW and can physically bring their work to us in person by making special arrangements with us.

-or who have domestic shipping agents. We unfortunately cannot be responsible for return shipping work internationally.

Artists in all stages of their careers are encouraged to apply. Additionally, we wish to be as inclusive as possible.

*We understand that you may not be able to pay for our application. Please contact us directly if you have special circumstances due to your geographical location or economic situation for us to consider.

The theme for our 2023 NYCJW Exhibition is TRUTH or DARE:

We would like to inspire you to either:

Tell us your TRUTH–show us something about yourself narratively through your work.

or

Take a DARE– step out of your comfort zone by creating something using a new technique, color palette, scale, genre, theme, material, etc.

Our exhibition is part of the official New York City Jewelry Week programming.

Our exact gallery location has yet to be determined.

-If your work is accepted for the online show, your work will be featured in our in-person gallery in the form of a video which is incorporated into the layout of the exhibition as well as on our website and print exhibition catalog.

-Artists who are juried into the in-person exhibition will also be represented online.

-New York City Jewelry week is November 13-19, 2023.

-Our online exhibition will go live on November 13th.

-Our application is due September 24, 2023—-but we recommend not waiting until the last minute to apply. In our experience, things go wrong at the last minute, and depending on what time zone you are in, we may or may not be available to assist you. Due to the timeline of our exhibition, our deadline is firm.

-BOTH PAYMENT AND IMAGE SUBMISSIONS MUST BE MADE BEFORE SEPTEMBER 24th-There are no refunds if you pay and forget to go back to submit images.

-Notifications will be emailed by October 10th.

YOU MUST ADD US TO YOUR CONTACTS TO ENSURE YOU RECEIVE A NOTIFICATION FROM US. If you do not receive a notification email by October 11th, check your spam or junk folders.

Also, You must be opted in to receive our mailing list, otherwise we will be unable to email you your notification.

Our exhibition is included in the NYCJW official programming and will be listed on their website and social media as well as our own. Last year, NYCJW had over 12,000 attendees and 150,000 web visitors

Thousands of people viewed the AdornAxis online exhibition, and even more viewers were reached though our active social media campaigns.

Plus, if accepted, all participating artists are featured in our print exhibition catalog which is available for purchase worldwide.

2021-JEWELRY OFF the GRID

APPLICATION DETAILS:

-Submit up to 3 images of artwork that is representational of the work you would like to be included in our exhibition. These may be 3 different artworks or details of one piece. *We may accept one, two, or all images submitted.*

-We require 1 exhibition worthy piece that fits our theme, and up to 2 supporting pieces of your signature work (these 2 supporting pieces do not necessarily need to fit the theme). Our goal is to curate a great exhibition including a range of work, in a range of materials showcasing our theme: TRUTH or DARE.

If you choose to create a ‘DARE’ piece, your additional 2 pieces do not need be cohesive with the piece created for our exhibition. If you are creating something out of your normal comfort zone, we would like to include pieces that are your signature pieces to highlight the departure from your normal body of work.

-Our exhibition space is limited, therefore you may be curated into the online portion of the exhibition even though you have applied for the in-person event.

*** By submitting to our exhibition, you are committing the pieces to our exhibition for the duration of the exhibition

Additionally, pieces submitted to AdornAxis cannot be shown at any other exhibition in NYCJW. (You can participate in other exhibitions, but the specific work shown in our exhibition cannot be shown anywhere else in NYCJW for the duration of the exhibition).

TEXT:

We ask for several brief written artist statements and biographies. Please follow the directions and adhere to the amount of text we request. WE WILL NOT READ LONGER STATEMENTS THAN WE ASKED FOR and CANNOT PRINT LONG STATEMENTS IN OUR CATALOG. The form will not cut you off, but if you write more than we ask for, it could disqualify you from the jurying process.

IMAGES:

*AdornAxis strongly suggests images should be submitted on a white background. We may edit/alter the backgrounds of any images accepted that are not on a pure white background.

-Images must be labeled with your last name and image number. For example, Jane Doe’s images would be doe1.jpg, doe2.jpg, doe3. jpg FAILURE TO COMPLY TO THIS WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION.

-Images must be jpg format

-Image size: A minimum of 1920px x1920px x300 dpi.

*By applying to our event, you give permission to AdornAxis to use your images in our publication as well as any promotional advertising we will do, as well as permission to alter the background of your images as needed. The artist retains copyright of their materials and receives credit/link whenever possible.

-Artwork that is accepted and featured on our website for sale must have professional quality images. Not all items for sale at the pop up will be available on our website.

-All artists will be featured in all our promotional materials.

FEES:

-The fee to apply for *online only is $30 or $45 to apply for the live event in New York City.

-In-person artists are not required to attend however they are required to pay for shipping and return of unsold goods.

-The application fee covers all administrative costs incurred.

*THERE ARE NO ADDITIONAL PARTICIPATION FEES.

-If an artwork sells. AdornAxis will pay the artist the wholesale price via PayPal.

*TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR JURYING, YOU MUST PAY FIRST AND USE THE CONFIRMATION CODE THAT WILL BE EMAILED TO YOU IN THE APPROPRIATE SPACE IN THE APPLICATION FORM.

*Your payment will be processes by ‘Debra Adelson Jewelry’, (one of the partners of AdornAxis). Your bank statement will not read AdornAxis. It will read Debra Adelson Jewelry.

YOUR SUBMISSION WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED UNTIL YOUR PAYMENT IS RECEIVED.
