Bio:
I’m an architect by formation and a self-taught jewelry designer, with a passion for color, texture and fluid, organic shapes. I studied Architecture in Romania and France, where I have earned a Bachelor/Master Degree in Architecture, in 2012. Since then, I’ve been working full-time as an architect. In 2009 I began creating jewelry as a hobby, experimenting with various materials and techniques, always searching, improving and growing. Only recently I’ve been taking Jewelry making more seriously, as I realized I can’t express everything I feel and believe in, in my architectural projects only. Here I have the true creative freedom, with my imagination being the only limit. In 2020, I had the honor to receive the Assamblage Award at Romanian Jewelry Week 1.0. And this gave me the courage to expose myself and what I create more, as I realized I can help others to express themselves and their story through my jewelry.
Artist Statement:
My jewelry tells alternative stories about beauty. I don’t seek beauty in perfection, because I the think the scars and imperfections have more stories to tell. I use humble materials like paper, wool, silk cocoons, in contrast to more precious ones like pearls, gold and silver, to question the value we give to jewelry. What is more precious? The materials used? Or the ideas encapsulated in it? A STORY IN WHITE COLLECTION (2021) A story in white collection (2021) tells stories about change and growth, about new beginnings, about the transmutation of Fear into Hope. After all the fears, the uncertainty… I felt the need to look for peace and calm, comfort and hope, less noise and less color. So I kept simplifying till I reached the purity of white. I used white for it’s meaning of purity, innocence, wholeness and completion. As a symbol of new beginnings, it is the blank canvas waiting to be written upon. It offers an inner cleansing and purifying of thoughts, emotions and spirit, allowing us to put the past behind us and find the courage to move on.
