Fruition Necklace

Artist Statement:

I'm a textile jewelry crafter from Moldova, interested in working with traditional textile techniques, preserving and enriching the cultural heritage of my country by interpreting it in my own unique way, thus creating modern and unconventional pieces of wearable art.

“As related to electricity I might think of the connection to the electricity of living creatures, how an intricate circuitry of neurons communicates through electrical impulses, how the electrical exchange happening at the membrane cell level and the electricity conducted by the blood flow make life happen through such complex systems and processes of which we are not aware and take for granted. When people think of electricity, they most likely think of man-made system that brings light into their homes and and make their machinery work. Yet, electricity is not this foreign, artificial thing man invented, it's something man harvested from nature and is all around us, being part of every natural, biological process happening on this planet, a simple truth we tend to forget. I've been interested in how electricity works within biological entities, mainly human body, plants and corals, which led me to discover about attempts to harness electricity from plants and a cleaner approach to produce it, as well as the vice versa, the use of electricity grids to restore the dying coral reefs, thus, not just exploiting the nature, but restoring the disrupted balance, which might have been translated unconsciously into my works.”
