Noah Layr, Austria

Noah’s work is inspired by memories and the red color of blood and the pain that comes with the loss of it. The techniques of leatherworking, Urushi lacquering, processing of textiles and goldsmithing techniques merge in his works and give them a light heaviness, a warm touch or an unexpected depth.

The ring "Insamination of pearls" is a retrospective of all the injuries in life. Memories of hands that comfort and explosions that expose hidden and only slowly become flatter and smoother. Like the foreign bodies in the production of pearls, these incisions in our lives can reveal their beauty with the help of time and distance. Sometimes they are worn with pride or revealed in full only in conversation.
