Marilyn Koch, US

Marilyn Koch was born and raised in Central California. She received her MFA at Syracuse University in upstate New York where she taught Jewelry and Small Metals classes until recently moving to Northern California to teach at Cal Poly Humboldt University.

I was never asked if I wanted to be born, to be contained in the flesh with an obstinate desire to make my legacy known. I think about how my scar is a physical representation of our evolution to be needed and remembered. It’s a luxury I didn’t want, but one that I will work to keep.
