Dongyi Wu, US

Dongyi Wu is a Chinese-born jewelry artist based in Gatlinburg, TN, US. Dongyi received her Master's Degree in Metal and Jewelry Design from Rochester Institute of Technology in US. Dongyi has her works shown worldwide, where she received awards, such as the winner of Preziosa Young 2020 in Italy.

The inspiration for the series comes from a truly and interesting moment in my life: a tired afternoon. When I took my pen and sketchbook to figure out what to do next, I was very sleepy. I felt my eyes and eyelashes became so heavy and almost falling off from my eyes. To picture that feeling, the spherical eyes are transformed into a cylindrical shape by the influence of gravity pressure. The spiral circles made with black rubber placed on the bottom of the cylinder present the pupil in eyes.
