Vivienne Varay, US
Vivienne Varay is a visual artist, jeweler, and object maker. She creates work that is inspired by her emotions and experiences. For this exhibition, I decided to take a dare by creating a digital drawing inspired by one of my recent pieces, Carmine. Using line, shape, and color I made a drawing that incorporates my process of repetition and pattern. I took color swatches from the photograph of the physical piece and applied them to the digital drawing using lines and dots. By incorporating layers, and using numbers as a tool, I created a new piece of two-dimensional work. Unlike Carmine, the drawing cannot be touched and only viewed which further explores the predominant theme of anxiety and intimacy within my work.
