Sharon Massey is a mid-career jeweler living in Pittsburgh, PA. She exhibits her work internationally and has been published in numerous books and journals, including American Craft and Metalsmith magazines.

These narrative brooches reference familiar fables of snakes or serpents interacting with humans. These tales have personal significance to me—Artifice references deception, and Hero relates to a personal journey. I think that many of us can relate to the seduction or trickery referenced in Artifice, or the challenging task referenced in Hero. These brooches acknowledge the trials we all face, and can be worn as an ornamental badge of honor as we navigate our own journeys.
