Bio

Jed’s practice has developed over the years through working in various mediums. From collage and printmaking to large sculptural forms, she found her voice when she began to translate her ideas into art jewellery. She is inspired by the use of inexpensive everyday materials in order to create unique and precious pieces. Her current work is infused with a private language referencing family milestones and her immediate surroundings. These influences are reflected in her designs through the number of elements used so each holds its own visual story.

Artist Statement

Jed uses a variety of materials: predominately borosilicate glass tubing commonly used in science, which is lamp worked or cut to form various shapes, together with wood and precious metals, combined with pearls, paper and paint. Colour is applied by painting the interior of the glass wall and firing handmade transfers to pattern the outside. These clusters are linked together by drilling and pinning, sometimes creating moving elements. She works through her ideas by making paper collages and views her finished pieces as three dimensional versions using material, pattern and form.
