Artist Statement

Originally trained in Graphic Design, Donna D’Aquino was interested in becoming an illustrator. While taking a metalsmithing workshop, she was handed wire and told to “draw”. This experience began the ongoing body of work consisting of 2 and 3-dimensional linear drawings. The pieces evolved into both wearable drawings and objects. They could be worn on the body and/or displayed as a piece of art hanging on the wall. Growing up just north of NYC D’Aquino has always been fascinated by the interior and exterior skeletal structures found in architecture such as bridges, scaffolding and telephone towers. Her work consists of a series of objects that reflect an exploration of line, form, volume, movement, structure, geometry, space, light and shadow
