The US pandemic death toll hit 500,000 on February 22, 2021. Just a month short of one year of the Pandemic. On April 15, 2021 the US total deaths reached 578,000. One year later on May 17, 2022 the death count broke One Million and as of this writing in September 2022 is continues to climb with a prediction by the CDC that it may reach 1,073,000 by the end of the year.
